連邦化のニュース

今日、サイパンの商工会議所からメンバーに届いたメールの中から・・・・・

USCISのwebsiteのLAWSをクリックして、左下にある【Immigration from the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands】をクリックすると下記の文章が出て来ます。

Parole

Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) Federalization of Immigration Law

On November 28, 2009 the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI) will transition from the CNMI permit system to the immigration laws of the United States. The transition period to U.S. Immigration law will end December 31, 2014.

Working in the CNMI

Employers must verify that an individual whom they hire in the CNMI is authorized to accept employment in the CNMI. For more information about the employment authorization verification process, see the ‘Form I-9 CNMI, Employment Eligibility Verification’ link to the right.

Travel for Foreign Nationals Present in the CNMI

If you need to leave the CNMI for any reason, you will need an appropriate visa from a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad in order to return to the CNMI, unless you have been granted advance parole by USCIS.

For more information on obtaining a visa, see the "U.S. Department of State" link to the right. For information pertaining to visa wait times for each Consular post abroad, see the "U.S. Department of State" link to the right.

For more information on immigration benefits, see the links to the right. To make an appointment, see the ‘Make an Appointment’ link to the right, or call 1-800- 375- 5283.

Parole

Parole is used sparingly to permit someone who is otherwise inadmissible to lawfully enter or remain in the United States for a temporary period of time due to a compelling emergency and/or public benefit.

USCIS may grant parole temporarily:

To anyone applying for admission into the United States based on urgent humanitarian reasons or if there is a significant public benefit
For a period of time that corresponds with the length of the emergency or humanitarian situation
The following groups in CNMI may be granted parole:

CNMI permanent residents
Immediate relatives of CNMI permanent residents
The immediate relatives of citizens of the Compacts of Free Association states
Republic of Palau
Federated States of Micronesia
Republic of the Marshall Islands
Advance parole is not a grant of parole directly to someone in the CNMI. It is an authorization from USCIS to someone present in the CNMI to be paroled into the CNMI by DHS upon their return from a trip abroad.

For more information about parole, see the "Humanitarian Parole" link to the right.
